The youngest Catholic school in the archdiocese, St. Francis Catholic School originated in our adoration chapel. An elderly woman was inspired that a school was the next calling for this already thriving parish. Under the guidance of Fr. Tom McCarthy, SJ and dedicated efforts of parishioners, our doors opened to a mission of education, development and service in 2004. We have since graduated 19 classes of exceptional people.
Elementary and middle school years are critical to the spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of a child. As such, we maintain a safe, loving, and supportive environment that guides the children in our care through this important time.
Our elementary grades focus on building a solid academic and spiritual foundation. We also extend learning to include experiences beyond the traditional classroom. Our art and physical education classes ensure holistic growth. With our music classes, we are treated annually to both a Christmas Concert and Spring Sing; additonally, we have attended the Veritas Middle School Choir Festival the past two years. We have a robust set of extracurricular opportunities including CYO sports, chess club, choir, and Scouts. We acknowledge and celebrate holidays. We participate in weekly masses and do class-oriented and school-wide service projects. We take field trips to experience real-world, out-of-the class education, and we regularly incorporate technology into everyday learning.
Our middle school is high-school-preparatory, with a 1:1 Chromebook program. St. Francis Catholic School adds to the foundation and position for our students' success in Catholic and public high schools. We work to bridge the gap, preparing students for the rigors of secondary education in a smaller, supportive environment. Our community likewise supports parents for this transition. Mentor families share insights from their transitions to each high school and help keep middle school families aware of processes and key dates. Of the students in the 8th grade class who applied, 100% were accepted into their first-choice Catholic high school.
Middle school students are leaders, and we extend our extracurricular activities to include student council and the extremely popular drama club. Representing the student body, the student council meets weekly and regularly works with the sixth-grade homeroowm teacher about various student proposals. Twice a year we are treated with middle school productions (last year's performances were Last Stop 'Til Christmas and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz).
Spend a day with us and we're confident you'll find us living our mission to truly be spiritually, morally, and academically excellent!
